Twisting Poses will help restore your spine's natural range of motion, cleanse your organs, and stimulate circulation. They are also great poses for stimulation of digestive system and for detox.

Twists can be either open (twisting away from the leg) or closed (twisting towards the leg).  Open twists address the thoracic spine while the closed ones also access the lumbar region. In closed twists the spine moves sideways (laterally) as well as twists. Open twists are easier than the closed ones, so one should start with them and progress to closed.

Twists should never be done in a passive way; the spine should always be lengthened, accompanied by the lift of the lower abdomen.
