Yuri BanensYuri Banens
Yuri Banens discovered yoga independently as a child and found a natural affinity with both the postures and the subject matter.
In his youth he practiced at home, staying occasionally at ashrams in Australia, until moving to London and meeting his teacher Petra Mitidieri. With Petra's guidance and encouragement, Yuri deepened his practice of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga sufficiently to enrol in the Triyoga teacher training course, from which he is due to graduate in 2009. Triyoga is Europe's leading yoga centre and boasts a world-class teacher training faculty.
Yuri is currently working at Barclays Capital, having been in corporate world for the last 10 years. This experience has given him a great advantage in teaching corpoate clients with highly stressful jobs.
Yuri's students find him an engaging and caring teacher, whose natural enthusiasm is infectious.

I ruptured a disc in my back 5 years ago causing chronic pain and the risk of further disc degeneration. As a person who enjoys exercise and wants to maintain flexibility, I was faced with the vicious circle of wanting to exercise but being in too much pain to do it. As a devotee of Asthanga yoga for many years, I started private classes with Petra 3 years ago. Petra is immensely experienced in dealing with back problems and worked with me to adapt my practice in a way that enables me to enjoy all the challenges and benefits of Asthanga yoga, and specifically build core strength to protect my lower spine. The result is I am virtually pain free and have the strength and energy I need to run my demanding business. See more
